Ellis County has approved its FY 2025-2026 holiday schedule, outlining closures for federal and state holidays.

Ellis County Elections said that when the 954 mail-in ballots they've received are added to the total, nearly 19,000 people have voted in the first two days of early voting.

Ellis County said some of the credit goes to farmers who showed up to help. The Ellis County Fire Department got the call of a large grass fire near Codell Road and Saline River Road around 5:05 p.m.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 in Ellis County is closed for moving to a new building and will reopen on August 14th.

Ellis County is also bringing in licensed mental health professionals to train and certify 25 “Mental Health Deputies” who are specially- trained in crisis intervention.

Anderson has been a registered sex offender since 2016 after ten convictions for sexual exploitation of a child in Ellis County, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. He also has previous convictions for criminal threat and for drugs.
