HINDS COUNTY, Miss. ( WLBT /Gray News) - A deputy was shot and killed while responding to a domestic call in Mississippi. Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Martin Shields, Jr. and another deputy responded to a domestic call at a home in Terry, Mississippi.

Shields, 37, was killed in the line of duty Sunday, Feb. 23, while responding to a domestic disturbance call in Terry. According to Sheriff Tyree Jones, Shields and another deputy got into a shootout with a suspect on Midway Road. Shields was killed. The other deputy was not injured.
