Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson reiterated his opposition to anticipated immigration reform policies when President-elect Trump returns to the White House this week.

The incoming Trump administration is reportedly beginning mass deportations next week in the city and across the U.S. Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia said "the current threats are nothing new" and advocates are ready to fight for and protect the community.

Trump campaigned largely on the issue of immigration, promising to carry out mass deportations of roughly 11 million illegal immigrants currently in the U.S.

Local immigration advocates continue preparing for potential mass deportation efforts that could reportedly start as soon as Tuesday.
