Ring, the Amazon-owned video doorbell and home security company, is branching out into smoke and carbon monoxide detection through a partnership with fire-safety company Kidde.

Ring is branching out beyond the best video doorbells and home security cameras into another area of home safety: Fire prevention. The company announced that it's partnering with Kidde to launch a new smart smoke detector that will alert Ring customers in the event of a fire or smoke event in their home.

Unlike traditional Kidde alarms, you’ll set these up using the Ring app, which is also where you’ll get alerts about smoke and CO alarms. And instead of the Kidde alarms chirping when they need new batteries, you’ll get that alert in the Ring app, too. If, however, you ignore the alerts for a week, you will get the annoying chirp.

Ring x Kidde Smart Smoke Alarm is priced at $54.97. Smart Smoke and CO Alarm will cost $74.97. Both will be available in April 2025.

Kidde and Ring will launch two models in April, along with a $5-per-month smoke monitoring subscription service.

The smart home security specialists at Ring have partnered with Kidde, a leader in the fire protection business since 1917, to develop a pair of new home safety devices that operate in the Ring ecosystem.
