Five people have been taken to hospital following a three-vehicle collision on the M1 in Belfast. The motorway has now reopened, having been closed in both directions between the Stockmans Lane and Saintfield Road junctions on Thursday night.

The latest TrafficWatch update says the M1 is currently closed in both directions East bound at Junction 6 Saintfield and Westbound Junction 2 Stockmans due to an ongoing incident. Motorist are advised to avoid the area and if possible seek an alternative route for their journey until cleared.

There were delays on the M1 earlier this morning (Tuesday, January 21) after a crash involving two cars - one of which overturned - shut the northbound motorway. The crash happened at around 7am on the M1 between Lutterworth and Leicester - junctions 20 and 21.
