After leaving Drake Maye in the game against the Chargers, maybe Patriots coach Jerod Mayo doesn’t deserve a second year.

The New England Patriots kicked off the season with quarterback Jacoby Brissett behind center, moved on to Drake Maye in Week 6 and they could have another swap to end the season. There is no question who the quarterback of the future is, but with no postseason to play for, the team could be sitting Maye for Week 18.

Patriots coach Jerod Mayo danced around questions involving whether or not he plans to start quarterback Drake Maye in Sunday’s finale against the Buffalo Bills, or, more to the point, if landing the No. 1 pick is a priority. Coaches will never admit to tanking.
