The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a negative start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 24,450 level, a discount of nearly 140 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Share prices of HDFC Bank Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., Axis Bank Ltd., State Bank Of India, and Tata Steel Ltd. contributed the most to the gains.

Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session in the green. Nifty 50 closed at 24,213.30, while Sensex ended at 79,476.63. Overnight, Wall Street indices ended higher ahead of the US election 2024 outcome.

After a pause of two days, markets continued their bearish phase on Thursday, with the benchmark Nifty 50 Index correcting 1.16% to 24,199.35, as investors took stock of the impact of Donald Trump's win.

Buying interest in select heavyweights such as Infosys Ltd, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Ltd, Reliance Industries Ltd, HCLTech, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank lifted the indices higher.

Sensex today extended rally with gains of over 600 points and reclaimed the 80,000-mark, amid positive global market cues. Nifty 50 also traded above 24,400 level led by gains across the board. Midcap and Smallcap indices rallied over 1% each.
