The Supreme Court on Saturday came down heavily on the Punjab government for not shifting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been fasting for over a month, to a hospital even as it doubted the intention of the agitating farmers for resisting availability of medical aid to their septuagenarian leader.

Amid the ongoing farmers' protest in India, the Supreme Court on Saturday (Dec 28) warned the Punjab government to convince farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on fast-unto-death for more than a month now,

In an unprecedented hearing, a vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan pulled up the Punjab government for allowing the situation to escalate and not complying with its earlier directions to provide medical assistance to Dallewal.
