One of the largest wildfires ever recorded in Colorado was expected to worsen early Sunday as gusty winds and low humidity fueled the flames and officials stood ready to order additional

The Elk and Lee fires in Rio Blanco county surpassed 103,000 combined acres as of Saturday morning, prompting additional evacuation orders, according to the Aug. 9 update from the Rocky Mountain Incident Management team.

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, the Lee Fire had grown to approximately 92,047 acres and is 6% contained on Saturday. The fire has caused road closures and evacuations in Rio Blanco and Garfield Counties.
