A federal judge ruled on Friday that Republican U.S. President Donald Trump's administration violated a court order by halting the disbursement of hundreds of millions of dollars in Federal Emergency Management Agency grants to states.

State attorneys general successfully argued FEMA withheld grant funds in violation of a preliminary injunction order issued last month.

The judge, James E. Boasberg, said he was likely to wait until next week to rule on whether the White House was in contempt of court for having ignored his order.
