The restyled 2025 iX has become the first battery-electric BMW to eke out more than 400 miles of EV range, with the German automaker claiming 435 miles.

The 2026 BMW iX marks the first major update since the electric midsize SUV debuted for the 2022 model year, bringing power and efficiency upgrades as well as refreshed styling and a new base model.

BMW says the 2026 iX is also equipped with a new heat pump that's more efficient in a wider range of temperatures. It has a new storage heating function used to aid in pre-conditioning of the battery for DC fast charging in cold environments.

BMW will propose this week that the European Union lower its tariff on U.S. car imports to 2.5% from 10%, in line with the current U.S. import tariff, the German automaker's CEO Oliver Zipse said on Tuesday.

BMW said in a statement that EU duties on battery electric vehicles “harm business models of globally active companies.”
