A Michigan lawmaker is among those calling out the Trump administration’s “middle-of-the-night firing” of Adm. Linda Fagan, who served as the first female commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard and the first woman to head up a branch of the U.

Trump’s removal of Adm. Linda Fagan, who made history as the first woman to lead a U.S. military service, is the first of several potential leadership changes.

The commandant of the US Coast Guard has been removed from her position over “leadership deficiencies” and “operational failures,” a Department of Homeland Security official confirmed to CNN on Tuesday.
