Well, the Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, had an interesting thing to say about the tariffs, particularly beef, on Fox News. Andrew Harnik / He said, and I quote, "The European Union won't take chicken from America.
Lutnick explained one example of unfairness in trade barriers is how the U.S. accepts cars from Korea in exchange for the U.S. selling produce. Still, McDonald’s was not allowed to sell french fries since they could not prove “the origin of the potato.” Korea offered to remove this barrier last week ahead of Trump’s Liberation Day announcements.
One source said annoyance with the secretary is so prevalent it is “like being a mosquito at a nudist colony — where do you even start?”
During a recent appearance on Fox News, Lutnick lavished praise on Musk, calling him “probably the best person to bet on I’ve ever met.” He claimed Tesla stock is massively undervalued and urged viewers to buy in. “It’ll never be this cheap again,” Lutnick said, adding that people will one day regret not purchasing Musk’s stock.
As global markets roiled from the US president’s tariff overhaul, his commerce secretary said the time for negotiation was over and other countries had to “change their ways”.
