Oklahoma’s Attorney General is taking a hard stance against transgender individuals seeking to update their birth certificates.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond on Monday announced his office has filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court to protect sex designation on birth certificates in Oklahoma.

Attorney General Gentner Drummond has submitted a petition to the U.S. Supreme Court, asserting that Oklahoma's policy of recording and maintaining sex on birth certificates is "clearly" constitutional.

Gentner Drummond said he is challenging the idea that Oklahoma’s approach is “somehow barred by the U.S. Constitution” because it won’t change a sex designation to match a person’s gender identity.
