There were some unexpected developments, but none bigger than the Dallas Mavericks jumping into the top-four and then winning the No. 1 overall pick. Dallas had just a 2.5% chance of entering the top-four, and just a 1.8% chance at landing the top pick ( via NBA PR ).

With only a 1.8 percent chance to win the lottery, a Mavs team that went to the NBA Finals last season, then scorned its fans by trading away Doncic, was a big winner.
