New York’s corrections commissioner has declared an end to a wildcat strike by correctional officers and says more than 2,000 officers who have not returned to work have been fired.

More than 2,000 New York prison guards who were fired for participating in an illegal wildcat strike won't be able to get another job with the state, Gov. Kathy Hochul said.

New York says its prison guard strike is over, though that meant firing thousands of workers who refused to cross the picket line after three weeks. More than 2,000 state prison officers who failed to return to work by a Monday deadline were fired and will be barred from future civil service jobs in the state,
