Keke Palmer won the top prize at Saturday’s NAACP Image Awards, scoring the Entertainer of the Year prize. The “One of Them Days” actress expressed surprise at the win, admitting in her acceptance speech that she thought Cynthia Erivo would take the award.

The actor, singer and TV personality saw off competition from fellow nominees Cynthia Erivo, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart and Shannon Sharpe. Also winning big on the night were Martin Lawrence and Kerry Washington who took out Outstanding Actor and Actress in a Motion Picture respectively.

The Oscars gave the nominated duo a long-awaited musical spotlight — something fans have been manifesting for months.
