“There was an air strike on Gaza City, and this is one of the areas that was designated as a safe area, and where the Israeli forces are going to halt their military operations,” Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary reported from Deir el-Balah.

The UN has welcomed the pause, which comes as the WHO warns malnutrition has reached "alarming levels" in Gaza.

Airdrops of food are moving into Gaza as the Israeli military begins a limited pause in fighting to allow the aid to enter the isolated enclave. Israel Defense Forces say it will pause attacks in certain areas for ten hours a day to allow for aid distribution.
