Francisco Lindor hit a go-ahead homer to start a four-run eighth inning and the New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 6-2 to avoid losing their second home series this season.

After working a 3-1 count, Lindor saw a hanging sweeper and capitalized on it, driving it deep into the Mets’ bullpen to give New York a 3-2 lead. Crossing home plate, Lindor was demonstrative, pounding his chest and shouting into his dugout, drawing pumped reactions from his teammates.

Lindor thought of his wife and mom after homering on Mother’s Day, but he also took inspiration from a recent failure.

Cade Horton handled his second New York City traffic jam Saturday much better than his first. After sitting through a 90-minute bus ride to the ballpark, Horton twice worked out of trouble against the New York Mets’ best hitters to win his major league debut for the Chicago Cubs.
