Gleyber Torres, the New York Yankees’ star second baseman since 2018, elected to leave the Bronx as a free agent over the Christmas holidays, signing a one-year, $15 million deal with the Detroit Tigers.

On Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post and MLB Network reported that Torres had reached agreement with the Detroit Tigers on a free-agent contract. It's a one-year, $15 million deal, per MLB.com. Torres, who just turned 28, became an All-Star in his first two Yankees seasons, topping out with 38 homers, 90 RBI and an .872 OPS in 2019.
