Although the winner of the $1.22 billion jackpot in the Mega Millions drawing on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, was in California, lottery officials say there were thousands of other winners who hit smaller prizes in Ohio.

Jordan Lyons has worked at Joseph’s Beverage Center on Talmadge across from the Franklin Park Mall for nearly one year. During that span, someone has hit the Mega Millions jackpot only three times. Those jackpots, however, were all among the top 10 largest in Mega Millions history. The prize on Dec. 27, 2024, ranked number 5.

Pools close for Mega Millions and Megaplier at 10:45 p.m., with the drawing taking place at approximately 11:00 p.m.
