The U.S. Agriculture Department is ending two pandemic-era programs that provided more than $1 billion for schools and food banks to purchase food from local farmers and producers.

States were notified that the USDA had cut funding to the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program, the School Nutrition Association says.

The $660 million Local Food For Schools program, which was started under President Joe Biden, was canceled for 2025.
