A 100-year-old RAF veteran who will be leading VE Day processions on Monday has recalled being “gobsmacked” after bumping into his father by chance during the Allied invasion of Normandy.

Sir Winston Churchill’s victory speech, a military procession, a flypast and street parties are part of the build-up to May 8.

Under the Online Safety Act, firms could be fined £18 million or up to 10 of global turnover for failing to protect users.

They will have prime spots to watch the military parade and flypast in central London as part the nation’s VE Day 80th anniversary events.
