The honeymoon phase is well and truly over after a rough four-game outing. Now the Red Wings focus on how to move forward.

The Detroit Red Wings return home both a bit deflated and encouraged. They take a three-game winless streak against Atlantic Division rival Montreal Canadiens on Thursday after a day off that will allow them to decompress from playing four games on a six-day trip.

On Tuesday night in Philadelphia, the Detroit Red Wings lost 2–1 in overtime to the host Flyers. After opening their four-game road spell with a convincing win over the defending champion Panthers, the Red Wings followed up with three straight losses, scoring just one goal in each game.

Joel Farabee’s goal at 5:21 of the second period was the only scoring through two periods. He fired in a backhand shot from the slot as the Red Wings were scrambling in their zone. The Flyers had the game’s only power play and didn’t convert.

PHILADELPHIA — Rasmus Ristolainen scored in overtime and the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night.

There were four road games, against four good to very good teams, and eight points maximum to have been gained. The Wings earned three points. That pretty much tells you it wasn't a good enough trip in many respects.
