Leaf, now an artist, might have changed some minds. His 26-foot-tall monument to the old power plant, destroyed in 2013, was installed Friday at the southern end of the Chula Vista Bayfront Park.

Leaf, who considers himself a metal designer, is considering a sculpture 16 to 18 feet tall that would generate power. He gathered some of the pieces he needed for the art on Thursday.
