The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has granted a state license for a casino in Cedar Rapids. The vote this morning was 4-1. Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell told reporters there will be a groundbreaking tomorrow for the Cedar Crossing project.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) is set to decide Thursday whether to grant Linn County the gaming license it needs to one day open the proposed Cedar Crossing Casino in Cedar Rapids. IRGC members will open their meeting at 8:30 a.m. at Prairie Meadows in Altoona.

After more than a decade of trying to bring a casino to Linn County, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission voted 4-1 to grant a gaming license to build a planned $275 million casino and entertainment center near downtown Cedar Rapids.
