Kerry Carpenter homered, Jahmai Jones delivered two key RBI hits and Casey Mize pitched into the seventh as the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins 8-5 on Saturday night at Target Field.

The Tigers left 14 runners on base and still scored eight runs as Casey Mize struck out 10 Twins in an 8-5 win on Saturday.

With wins in five of the team’s past six games, Detroit remains atop the American League Central, 7.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians. The Twins, still sitting down in fourth place, are 14 games behind the Tigers and eight back of a Wild Card spot.
