Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement forecasting freezing rain and rain along the St. Lawrence Valley, stretching from the southern Laurentians to the Quebec City area, from Saturday evening until Sunday.

The 22News Storm Team has issued a Weather Alert for freezing rain on Saturday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire County for potentially icy roads between 4 a.

New this morning, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of Connecticut and central/western Massachusetts.

In warnings issued Friday, Environment Canada said a "prolonged period" of freezing precipitation is expected in the region, north of the Ottawa River.

Be careful on the roads overnight into early Saturday morning as some spotty freezing rain and spotty freezing drizzle is a possibility.The primary time
