At Marshall University, our concern for the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff is always a top priority. With the support of personnel from other departments, we have hundreds of people involved in our goal of maintaining a safe and secure campus.

Report all Crime or suspicious situations immediately to the Marshall University Police Department. 696-4357(HELP). All members of the University community are urged to lend their support both in reporting crimes and practicing preventive measures to reduce them.

The mission of the Marshall University Police Department of Public Safety is to enhance and support an environment of safety and security for the students, staff, faculty, administration, and visitors of Marshall University through the conscientious provision of professional service.

In his short time working for Marshall University Police Department, Officer Martin has been trained as a hostage negotiator in 2020, certified to teach as a Basic RAD Instructor for RAD Systems in 2021, and certified to teach the Axon TASER course in 2021.

Director James E. Terry has been with the Marshall University Police Department since 1987. Before he became the Director of Public Safety, he served as the Assistant Director. Terry has also served time as a patrol unit for the department.
